The fierce battle between Microsoft’s Bing & Google is getting fiercer. Ever since the launch of Bing in June 2009, Microsoft has been trying to capture the online search engine market share. Though Bing has come out as the fastest growing search engine in recent months, it still falls way behind Google. From online advertisements to cash back rewards campaigns, Microsoft has spent millions already to attract online surfers to use Bing. But now they have come up with a new strategy to garner more search volume.

As published in Financial Times on November 22, 2009, Microsoft is in talks with various news publishing companies like News Corp who owns The Wall Street Journal (in US), The Times (in UK), Daily Telegraph (in Australia) etc to have them de-index or remove their content from Google. In return, these media companies will get paid!

If that happens, we all would be really interested to see how will Google react. Will they pay more than what Microsoft offered? And if they do, we will see a new money making opportunity for the media companies to pull back their sinking ship. If search engines starts fighting for the exclusive rights of the content, we will be in a new era of web search.

Microsoft is in talks with News Corp to De-index its pages from Google

I can’t just imagine a scenario where the roles will be reversed. Google, Bing ,Yahoo and Ask are competing not only for internet surfers but they start bidding for crawl-able content on the web. Obviously, news websites & bloggers are the clear winners here. Not only are they getting paid from their advertisers, they will see a new stream of revenue flowing in from this. And I am sure this stream will get them much more than what they get paid now. I can’t stop myself from thinking of a day when every single internet user is becoming a journalist, capturing the latest news & writing a unique content to post on his personal blog and wait to be contacted from the search engines to buy his content.

We may even hit the era where more players join the search engine war. Every warrior shows the unique content. So if I want to read health news, I will go to, say, healthyengine.com (a fictitious search engine which publishes exclusive news about health industry) instead of Google because Google does not have the rights to publish those news!

These were just some random thoughts that were raised in my mind when I read the news. I would love to hear more thoughts from you guys when you read this article.

After weeks of speculation, the verdict is finally out! Microsoft’s Bing will become the search engine behind Yahoo! and Yahoo! will drive the advertisement sales for both the companies. This was revealed by both the companies in a joint Press Release and was extensively covered by Techcrunch – a weblog dedicated to reviewing new internet products.

Microsoft's Bing will now power Yahoo's Search Results.

But what does it really mean to your website rankings? How would it effect your SEO efforts? Our experts analyzed its possible consequences and are trying to answer some of the questions you are probably wondering about right now. Read on…

1. Should I optimize my website for Yahoo! SERPs now ?

There’s no need, really. Especially since Yahoo! will henceforth use Bing’s algorithm to show its search results, which basically means you will be wasting your time if you optimize for Yahoo!

2. Will my site’s current rankings change on Yahoo?

Yes, it should since Yahoo! will now be powered by Microsoft’s search technology which means search results should be the same on Yahoo and Bing. This deal will most like be a boon to those webmasters and SE Experts who are ranking well on Bing. Obviously, we’re not very hopeful about the current top rankers on Yahoo!

3. What about Yahoo! Search APIs, site explorer etc?

Honestly, even we do not have a clear answer to this. We think, however, that it would now be influenced by Bing (Microsoft) results as well. We’ll of course let you know when we know ourselves

4. Will Yahoo’s (paid) directory submissions be any useful for my website rankings now?

Yahoo’s paid directory submission has never been the factor of your organic search ranking. So no, it will not effect your ranks.

So here we are, providing you a first hand account of the latest buzz in the Search Engine World along with our humble opinion about the same. We’d like to know your feedback about this development and its possible consequences. Don’t forget to drop your comments below. We’ll keep you updated with more information as it comes.

When you’re getting attention, it’s hard to not show it off. Of course, we are talking about the coverage KPMRS received this week on Pandia.com – a popular search engine blog of Europe. An article called “KPMRS helps you track your search engine rankings” posted on the Search Engine Watch (SEW) section of Pandia.com explains to readers how Search Engines these days are hellbent on making searches very personal to their users and as a result, the playing field of Search Engine marketing has become more user-customized and extremely competitive. Hence, the need of the hour are analytics services that inform webmasters of the search engine positions of their websites.

Pandia, in their article, have repeatedly emphasized that the strength of KPMRS is it’s outright simplicity. Unlike other analytics websites, KPMRS has an awfully accessible interface that just require you to enter a) the Name of your website b) Your Search keywords and Viola! Your search positions on Google, Yahoo and Bing will instantly appear on your screen!

KPMRS was recently covered by Pandia

Apart from elaborating on the comprehensive services offered by KPMRS, Pandia also enumerated some welcome tips in their article that will surely help us improve.

Also, did we mention that Pandia.com officially remarked that KPMRS has a lot of potential? And since Pandia.com is a major European Search engine and SEM powerhouse, whatever it comments comes after serious deliberation and research. Oh, that makes us tingly with joy all over
