If you are performing SEO, your foremost focus is to gain top rankings and visibility in SERPs. Google has many parameters to determine where a specific website will be ranked. This is the why some websites don’t achieve top rankings, as they are not up to Google’s expectations. To the meet the expectations of search engine, you need to gain trust of your search engine.

Search Engine Trust Factor is basically the factors that are responsible for a website’s standard score. Where your website should be ranked? It evaluates how reliable your site is and how clear and friendly it is. Trust factor looks for the trustworthiness of a website and how your website is seen by the spiders as compared to other websites. Search engine measures all these parameters and reward a suitable ranking to a site.

Distinctive characters of search engine trust factor

Search engine trust factor has evolved over the time. Sometimes it takes a long time to calculate trustworthiness of a website. Trust factor compares your websites with others and then give it a suitable ranking. It is also persuaded by user preferences, votes and usage. Building trust factor is not a tricky job. It’s rather a slow and steady process, it takes time to build search engine trust factor.

How search engine trust factor influences a website

Search engine trust factor looks for how much time does a user spend on a webpage that search engine has recommended. And how many clicks a website gets on a search engine result page. If you conduct a search on Google, it brings top ten search results. These top ten websites have undergone the evaluation process conducted by search engine and then search engine assigned them top rankings in SERPs.

How search engine looks for trust factor

Let’s say a user is looking for some information and conducted a search on Google. Google shows up results having the information the user is looking for. If the user clicks on the website that appeared at number three or four, as user finds it more relevant to his search. This means that user trust the website appeared on number three rather than the website appeared on number one and two in the search result. It is mainly due to the content quality and keyword-rich content and the relevant information that user was seeking. Sites appeared on number one and two might have some spam like content or may lack the information that user was looking for.

Likewise, let’s say if a user clicks on the site that appeared on the top, and he doesn’t spend more time looking through it as he doesn’t find it relevant. User comes back to search engine result by clicking on back button without spending any more time on that irrelevant website. This is clear that users look for trustworthy and high quality content and relevant information. That’s why Google has set some trust factors to rank websites.

There are many factors responsible for website ranking and to drive traffic. From domain names and dates, content quality, URL structure, internal links, bounce rate, targeted keywords, inbound and outbound links and getting links from trusted sites. If you are performing SEO to achieve high rankings in SERPs, you have to meet search engine’s expectations.

In our previous blog post, we mentioned a few basic tips for ranking your reference content on the best search engines. These tips comprised of keyword density, title, headline, meta descriptions, URL, body tag and image alt tag. Well, continuing further with these tips, here is the remaining list that you can closely consider for boosting your reference content ranking.

•	Reference Content quality: Once you have managed with previous aspects, you should then focus on the readability of your reference content. People surf the web for all types of information and hence you should ensure that your content is readable not just for the professionals but also for a normal or an average user.

Apart from just readability, make sure that your reference content speaks about the topic and doesn’t drift away from it. Good, complete, informative and simple content directly indicates more number of readers and hence traffic to your website. This will also increase the time on site that users spend on your website along with the browsing rate for your website.

The reference content should be connecting, simple and also informative. In simple words, the perspective of the content is also essential for creating the perfect content for the readers. Being an online entrepreneur, I will not just be writing reference content for the search engine perspective, but also for the readers and their information. Well, this might sound a bit simple to you at the time, but when it comes to nailing them, the entire process seems a lot more difficult.

•	Content architecture: Once the content is designed perfectly, the next thing that you should consider is the internal linking and architecture of the content. Start from the homepage and then continue with the internal linking architecture of the entire website. This will help you achieve hundreds of unique links per page in the very first level, while in the second level you can link the categories with the sub-categories. With this, you can earn as many as millions of pages in just two levels from a single page. This is simply perfect from the perspective of the search engines and also the users.

Adding a sitemap to your website is also a great way to organize your webpage. Well, if you don’t quite prefer a sitemap, an HTML sitemap will also work perfectly for your website. Moreover, you can also use the categories and the subcategories ideally for better results. The relevance of these pages will further strengthen the chance of linking your categories and draw external links from other well ranked websites. This will greatly help your pages and reference content rank better.

You can take the examples of some of the most ideal websites such as Wikipedia, About.com, etc. that have cross-referenced their content into greater levels. The content cross-linking is a great way to attract a visitor to the other interesting pages of the website. They will click more on the links which will provide you with better browsing rate, higher pages per session and hence, better SERP.

•	Earning External Links: Attracting external links to the reference content is the most difficult task for an SEO manager. However, there are companies that have benefited greatly from their reference content by adding features like multimedia content, videos, and visual explanations. People love pages with multimedia and follow them regularly. Hence, what you can do as well is add images to your reference content along with several videos that interest your visitors to a great extent.

•	Research Content: Facts and figures are also one major aspect of the reference content that visitors greatly prefer. Hence, you can add research content in the form of charts and graphical interpretations for your data into your reference content. Moreover, if you have created the visual charts for your reference content, there are chances that other entrepreneurs using your charts in their web pages, in presentations, blog posts, etc. will refer back to your website for more information and data. This will help your reference content earn more external links from other online ventures.

•	Content licensing and translation: And finally, the last factor that you should take care is the licensing of your reference content. Make sure that you license your reference content and avoid people from copying it without giving back a link to your content. Every single link to your content will only indicate that the content in your site is original. This will give your reference content a higher online boost with a better web recognition.

Translation of your reference content is also a good option as more people across the several countries are now interested in getting your content. Moreover, with the increasing popularity of the SEO business, translating your reference content into the various languages will only provide you better back links to your original reference content.

Well, now that you have the key points for boosting the rank of your reference content on the SERPs, make sure that you follow them closely for the optimum results.

For all SEO masters, reference content is a very crucial data on the web. However, due to several reasons, the content fails to get noticed on the web with a reputable rank on the SERPs. No matter what methods you follow, enhancing your reference content ranking becomes all the way more difficult. Well, here are certain expert strategies and methods which you can follow for boosting the SERP ranking of your reference content on the web.

Before catching up with the basic tips for enhancing the SERP of your reference content, let’s have a closer look on what is a reference content. According to the SEO world, Reference content is a basic SEO optimized web content which earns external links to your website, but after a great difficulty. Moreover, for any website reference content, optimizing their rankings and web visibility on the SERPs is an equally difficult task. However, despite of this downside, a large number of people prefer using the reference content from the searcher’s viewpoint and also for the marketing of their content which would help divert huge traffic to their website. This would also benefit the company advertise their brand, optimize their sales in the market and also build their repute in the industry. Henceforth, reference content and its SERP ranking are both very essential aspects for a successful online business venture.

Now that you are aware about the importance of Reference content, let’s not waste any more time in discussing about the tips that can help you boost the ranking of your reference content.

Reference content is more like a simple informational content that is designed to provide ideas and information to people for a long time period. It may include definitions, encyclopedia content, how-to content, dictionary content, etc. However, it strictly doesn’t include blog posts, news articles, updates or any new developmental content. Hence, promoting the rankings of such simple and regular content is not at all an easy task, although there are a few things that we can help you with, for ranking your reference content.

Keyword density: Every time SEO masters optimize their web content, they select their targeted keywords accordingly and plan their occurrence in the article based on the content length. This usage of keywords in content, according to a number of SEO experts is a myth.

In several situations, people optimize their content with certain specific keywords, adding them a couple of times all across the web content. They increase the usage and enjoy the increasing rankings of their content. Well, this is technically correct in several conditions, but not always.

Keyword density is not quite a strategy followed by the search engines while ranking reference content. Hence, apart from simply focusing on the density, it also gets essential that you focus on a list of other features. According to most experts, it is rather more important to use the keywords rightly across the content. If not, then your keyword density literally has no value. Hence, it is better not to focus on things that are not very much followed by the search engines.

Title: Adding your targeted keyword in the title of your reference content, specifically in the beginning is a good strategy. People usually prefer to see their searched keywords in the titles of your reference content for ensuring that your content offers them the right information they are searching on the web.

Headline: Placing your keyword into the headline, within the H1 tag is also an important strategy for optimizing the ranking of your reference content on the SERPs. This is necessary as when a user clicks through the result and is then directed to your webpage, you would surely want the user to stay focused on his desired content and hence remain interested in your content. Adding your targeted keyword to your headline will convince them that they have reached the right place. But, if you haven’t used your keywords in the headline, there are chances that your bounce rate will increase, forcing people to leave your website unsatisfied from the content.

Meta description: Inserting your keywords into the meta description is yet another interesting strategy. The keywords will get highlighted by bolded characters in the SERPs.

URL: Same as the above mentioned conditions, adding keyword into the URL also has somewhat influence on the ranking of your reference content.

Body Tag: This is one particular area in content where SEO masters make the maximum usage of their keywords. However, your keyword density is not much of a worry, especially of your article is huge enough for several keywords. Using the keyword in the body for 3 to 6 times is perfectly fine, but it is surely a problem if your content includes your keywords as many as 9 times. Well, this is not an important issue. Rather, you simply need to check if your keywords are within the body tag.

Image alt tag: Adding your target keywords within the image alt tag, also the file name of the image is another important strategy for your reference content. The image alt tag has a stronger relation with the H1 tags in the headline which may possibly be used by the search engines for ranking your reference content.

Apart from these above mentioned reference content optimizing strategies, check out on a few more tips in the next article.

Time and again webmasters & SEO experts have been haunted by the thought of losing search rankings for their websites after changing web hosting company. After all, they spent several hours of research and development in positioning their website at the first page of Google and other popular search engines. Horror of losing that sweet spot can terrify any feeble heart because that means losing hundreds of visitors that come on their website without them costing a dime. So is it really risky business to think about moving your website to another host? Does it really affect your website rankings?

The answer is NO simply because no search engine crawler takes IP address or web hosting company or name servers as any of their factors to rank your website. But if crawlers find your website “unreachable“, you will be punished. So utmost care has to be taken while you move your website to different server. Below, we have tried to explain the transfer process in 4 VERY EASy steps for the static website.

(Please note that moving a static site is relatively much easier than moving a database driven website. Site that gets new content from it’s users every minute are more complicated to move and require help of professionals.)

Step 1. Copy all the files of your website from your current web host to the new server and test it. Every hosting company provides you a temporary URL or IP address to run a test site. Ask them for that URL and directory path so that you can upload all the files to that location.

Step 2. Test all the links and content of your website on the temporary URL of the new server. Make sure all URLs work because you don’t want search engine crawlers to follow a link that is broken.

IMP Tip – Make sure all images & graphics show up because several times coders give “absolute path” of the images which means the images on the new location will not be found. Always ask your coders to use “relative paths“. (Not familiar with the terms – absolute paths & relative paths? don’t worry. Your designers/coders should know that. God help you if they don’t! )

Step 3. Once you see your website runs smoothly on the new server, it’s time to tell your domain registrar (domain name booking company) to point your domain name to the name severs of the new web hosting company. These days, many registrars makes the change pretty immediately which means as soon as you change the name servers, your site is accessible from the new location.

Step 4. Though your website is now being rendered from the new server, yet it is advisable to keep the files of your site on old server for couple of days.

I really hope this serves as a helpful guide and checklist for the next time when you plan to move your website to a new host. Please feel free to ask us if you still have any questions. Our professional web development team at Galaxy Weblinks would be more than happy to assist you and provide a free consultancy.

Simply posting an article on your web page will not help it come up in the search engine result pages, especially if it’s a duplicate content. Search engines usually don’t approve content which appears on several web pages and locations. Such duplicate web content is also one possible reason why various web pages are not usually indexed by the search engines on the web. There are a few possible reasons as to why the search engines don’t quite fascinate duplicate content displayed in several web pages. Well, below are a few situations where the search engines easily identify duplicate content posted on the web.

In the ecommerce websites for product descriptions

Any newly launched product has several distributors on the web. As a result, these websites offer the same text about the products and their features which thus makes them duplicate content on the web.

Alternate print pages

Several websites on the web offer a specific printing format with the same content on them. If the owner of the website doesn’t make use of the robots.txt disallow command, then the search engines don’t index these web pages.

Canonical issues

Search engines usually index the URLs as compared to the webpages and so, there are chances that they index the same website displayed in different forms. The content of the same website is hence showed as a copy of itself and hence the search engines don’t index these webpages.

Apart from these three reasons, there are several other situations such as session IDs for search engines, syndicated RSS feeds, etc. where in the search engines identifies duplicate content. We will post more details about those in near future.

How many of you think following URLs are all the same?

http://www.example.com (TYPE 1)

http://example.com/(TYPE 2)

http://www.example.com/index.html (TYPE 3)

These URLs may point to the same webpage and show same content but technically they all are different. Search engine crawlers consider them as all different URLs which means they all will compete with each other for their positions in SERP.

Think about a scenario where 100 websites have put your link on their home page. 30 of those sites are pointing to Type 1 URL. 25 are pointing to Type 2 URL. 45 are pointing to Type 3 URL.

Now they are all pointing to your home page but to different URLs. So you are losing a huge chunk of backlinks for 1 common page which you could have got if all 100 links were pointing to just one URL.

There is a very simple solution to fix this problem. Choose just one common URL (whichever you prefer) and forward all the other URLs to that one URL. Make sure you use 301 redirect to forward the URLs.

Using 301 redirects can greatly help in consolidating your website rankings

It is a very simple technique to make sure you do not loose any link juice in the SEO Campaign for your website. This was revealed by both the companies in a joint Press Release and was extensively covered by Techcrunch – a weblog dedicated to reviewing new internet products.

Microsoft's Bing will now power Yahoo's Search Results.

But what does it really mean to your website rankings? How would it effect your SEO efforts? Our experts analyzed its possible consequences and are trying to answer some of the questions you are probably wondering about right now. Read on…

1. Should I optimize my website for Yahoo! SERPs now ?

There’s no need, really. Especially since Yahoo! will henceforth use Bing’s algorithm to show its search results, which basically means you will be wasting your time if you optimize for Yahoo!

2. Will my site’s current rankings change on Yahoo?

Yes, it should since Yahoo! will now be powered by Microsoft’s search technology which means search results should be the same on Yahoo and Bing. This deal will most like be a boon to those webmasters and SE Experts who are ranking well on Bing. Obviously, we’re not very hopeful about the current top rankers on Yahoo!

3. What about Yahoo! Search APIs, site explorer etc?

Honestly, even we do not have a clear answer to this. We think, however, that it would now be influenced by Bing (Microsoft) results as well. We’ll of course let you know when we know ourselves

4. Will Yahoo’s (paid) directory submissions be any useful for my website rankings now?

Yahoo’s paid directory submission has never been the factor of your organic search ranking. So no, it will not effect your ranks.

So here we are, providing you a first hand account of the latest buzz in the Search Engine World along with our humble opinion about the same. We’d like to know your feedback about this development and its possible consequences. Don’t forget to drop your comments below.
Social media is the buzzword today and everyone is spending a considerable amount of money in SMM (Social Media Marketing to the lesser known) as a part of their Internet Marketing budget. When we started KPMRS, the idea was to help SEO consultants, internet marketers or any website owner by monitoring their website rankings on 3 major search engines – Google, Yahoo & Bing. But this idea was not unique and we are still not the only providers who is tracking your search engine rankings.

But we also wanted to provide something extra, something different and unique from what others are providing. Sticking to that principal, we thought of providing a report of how popular are your websites on the social networking & bookmarking websites like – Delicious, Twitter, Flickr, Technocrati, Digg etc. I personally found it very interesting and useful to find my website’s social activities along with its rankings on search engines – all at one place.

Unfortunately, the numbers are not very great right now, but we were not expecting a lot in just a month anyway Although it does tell me that more than 80 people have bookmarked our websites on Delicious and 30 people have talked about us on Technorati.
